We are proud of the range of projects we have created and coordinated. This section gives you all the information you need to learn about each offer, who is eligible to access these and how to get involved.
Action Towards Inclusion (ATI)
Through Better Connect, we are a Key Worker organisation, offering an intensive and extensive range of support for people who are unemployed.
Participants receive a wealth of support and opportunities, including one to one sessions, training, problem solving, wellbeing and counselling services, as well as both personal and skills development. Participants are typically supported by us for up to 18 months and we are specifically here to assist people to take their next steps into learning and employment.

Our Zero Selby
The ‘Just Transition Project’ believes that all communities can benefit from the transition to net zero. Also, that this is most likely to happen when communities are provided with the opportunity to lead the transition themselves.
The UK Local Selby Just Transition Project is exploring what this looks like in practice. It is piloting approaches to creating community-led Just Transitions, sharing findings nationally.
The Just Transition ‘Our Zero Selby’ will last for an initial period of 12 months, from March / April 2021. During this time, Selby District AVS are partnering with Just Transition to work alongside Selby Big Local, and pilot an approach to creating a community-led Just Transition. We are working across Selby Town, Barlby, Brayton and Thorpe Willoughby.

Big Local
Selby is one of 150 areas in England chosen to deliver Big Local – a community led, 10 year Big Lottery funded programme which helps residents create lasting change through an investment of at least £1 million.
Big Local puts the local community, and most importantly residents, firmly in the driving seat allowing them to identify local needs, take action and make a lasting, positive difference.

Community Fridge
The Community Fridge project, in partnership with Big Local, directly works to reducing food waste and empower our community.
The Selby Community Fridge is a space where everyone can share surplus food, including donations from local food businesses, producers, households and gardens.
The Selby Community Fridge can be accessed by anyone and everyone who wants to share food, needs food, is keen to volunteer or just get involved with food, environment or related activities. The project is run under a national Community Fridge movement called ‘Hubbub’, which you can find out more about here: Community Fridges | Hubbub Foundation
