New year - new minibus

Selby District AVS Community Transport project has received a brand new minibus thanks to the Department of Transport Community Minibus Fund.

The 17-seater Peugeot Boxer is available for community and voluntary groups in the Selby District to hire all year round.

The Community Transport scheme has been providing local people who can’t otherwise get out-and-about with affordable and convenient transport for over 15 years.

The minibus element of the scheme allows local groups to hire appropriate and

suitable transport to take their members to group meetings and to group activities.

Kevin Ward, Service Delivery Manager at Selby District AVS said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive the new minibus. We can’t wait to see it put to great use within the community.”

Groups who wish to access the new minibus must be a not-for-profit organisation working for the benefit of the community. Organisations need to be registered with the Selby Community Transport project and meet the required criteria.

The scheme, which is hugely beneficial to the community, is dependent on volunteer drivers. The Community Transport team, based at Community House, Selby, are looking for new volunteer drivers to ensure they can continue to help local people in need of transportation. Please contact to find out how you could get involved.
